Travelling: Mya Thein Tan Pagoda, Myanmar

Hi everyone! In this week I was studying about Myanmar Arts, there are so many beautiful places where they include Arts and Architectures  in Myanmar for me to pick. I chose "Mya Thein Tan" pagoda or known as the Taj mahal of Irrawaddy river. Let's go and see what we have today.

Mya Teng Dan Pagoda It is a whole white pagoda with a streaky wave pattern, located in the Irrawaddy River Basin at the part North of Mandalay. This pagoda is also known as Piume Pagoda is part of Mingun city, known as the " Taj Mahal of the Irrawaddy River "

Tiny History

The pagoda is white and its body was built in 1816 by King Jakkai Mang, the sixth King of the Kon Bon dynasty. In 1838, the earthquake had ruined the pagoda. Later on, King Jakkai Mang ordered to reconstructed again.

Structure and architecture

This pagoda has a different structure and style than any other pagoda in Myanmar as it is built on a 7-tier circular base protruding in a wave shape. It is similar to a model base of 7 mountains that surround Phra Sumen Mountain, according to Buddhist beliefs as the center of the universe. At the top of the pagoda, it is believed to be a replica of Chulamanee Chedi on the top of Phra Sumen hill. On the top of the pagoda was made of gold, and the base of the seven floors that shaped the top of the pagoda was designed with a channel for placing sacred statues to worship according to myth and religious beliefs.

This is only few part from my research, Myanmar Arts are exquisite and profound. I wish I could visit there some day too, so I could tell you more about their information. Time's up. I need to go now and see you next journey.
